Nomenclature System for Aluminum Metal Matrix Composite Materials

This Standard was developed to provide users, producers and other interested parties with a means of briefly describing aluminum matrix composites utilizing the already existing Alloy and Temper Designation Systems for Aluminum, American National Standard H35.1/H35.1(M). It describes a nomenclature system for designating Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites, including identification of: 1. The matrix composition, and 2. The type, volume percent and composition of the reinforcement material.
